Fellowships
Uses of Fellowships
The mission of the Niwot High School Education Foundation is, “to enhance and enrich the teaching and learning experience at NHS for all students and faculty.” Fellowship proposals that are consistent with this mission will be considered. The following are eligible for consideration for fellowship grants:
- Students attending state or national conferences or competitions.
- Faculty and staff attending state or national conferences, seminars, or workshops.
- School-sponsored or approved group student trips (Marine Ecology, Close Up, etc.).
General Guidelines
- Maximum to be awarded per semester is $750 ($1,500 for the year). Maximum is $100 per student, $200 per teacher, and $300 per group.
- Proposal due date is the 1st Monday of each month for consideration at that month’s NHSEF Board of Directors meeting (generally the 3rd or 4th Monday of each month).
- Fellowship proposals should be submitted via email to grants@nhsef.org. An acknowledgement email will be sent when the proposal is received.
- Applicant will be notified within 10 days after the NHSEF Board of Directors meeting.
- Faculty, staff, and students receiving Fellowships are asked provide a brief, written statement to the Board within 30 days after the activity or event, describing the benefits received from participation.
Restrictions
- Faculty and staff fellowships cannot be funded if college credit or credit toward a step pay increase will be earned.
- The event or activity must be curricular or co-curricular in nature.
- Fellowship funding at all levels is limited to registration fees and materials.
- Athletic events or activities will not be considered.
- Fellowships will not be considered for events and activities that have already occurred.
Fellowship Proposal Requirements
Please include all of the information requested below, in the format shown.
- Please identify a primary contact person for this proposal (teacher or leader, in the case of a student group). Include the names of all members of the group/department if applicable.
- Describe the event or activity. What other funding sources have been investigated?
- Provide details about how the fellowship will be used “to enhance and enrich the teaching and learning experience at NHS for all students and faculty.” Who will benefit? How/why?
- Provide a line item budget of all costs to be incurred. What part of the event or activity will be funded by department, building, or other resources?
- If your proposal is approved for funding, you will be reimbursed after your activity/event UNLESS you indicate in your proposal that you prefer to have funds paid beforehand. Please include date needed, and to whom check should be written.
- Have you ever applied for a fellowship from the NHS Education Foundation before? If so, in what school year did you last receive funds?
- Please include any additional information you feel would be helpful to the committee evaluating this proposal.
